The Dr. Neuhaus Multi-Utility Controller solution claims 1st place in the Vodafone Application Award for 2009:
08. Dezember 2009
The Dr. Neuhaus Telekommunikation GmbH solution, the “MUC controller GPRS for smart metering”, was nominated as one of the innovative, pioneering solutions for the final round of the Vodafone Application Award 2009 in the category of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) from a total of 60 competing entries. Vodafone Deutschland organizes this competition every year and presents the awards at its Innovation Days, during which the latest technologies and developments are featured in the Düsseldorf Test & Innovation Center.
Thanks to its high degree of standardization, the Dr. Neuhaus MUC controller offers a maximum in investment security to utility companies and metering operators. An open, flexibly expandable software platform based on Linux allows the simple integration of a wide range of different meters, via local radio frequency, for example. GPRS, PLC or DSL is used to communicate the consumption data to the control centers. And there is also an interface for the local integration of home-control applications.
Just a few weeks after the successful product launch, the Hamburg-based specialist for M2M communication and smart-metering solutions was proud to be rewarded with such an honor for this technological solution. “We are very pleased at having received this award,” commented Ludger Böggering, Head of Marketing and Product Management at Dr. Neuhaus Telekommunikation GmbH. “It is a very convincing confirmation of the strategy we pursue to develop innovative and cutting-edge as well as highly efficient communication solutions for a broad market.”
MUC controllers are key components in smart-metering solutions, which are intelligent systems designed to collect and process energy consumption data. The development and marketing of such systems is currently being driven by recent legislation based on new technical requirements following the integration of renewable energy sources and increased consumer awareness. In Germany, for example, the Energy Industry Act requires that smart meters be installed in new buildings and larger-scale renovation projects starting from 1 January 2010.
