Industrial radio router with UMTS/HSDPA support for innovative solutions in telemetry and telematics
Hamburg, 22 July 2009
Dr. Neuhaus Telekommunikation is introducing two new radio routers, the TAINY HMOD-L1-IO and the TAINY HMOD-V2-IO. Both devices have been developed for industrial applications and connect decentral systems to a company network via mobile radio connection. The support UMTS/HSDPA and are capable of transmitting very large data volumes in a cost-effective manner, enabling new, innovative solutions in telemetry and telematics. The L1 model is designed for use with fixed IP addresses, while the V2 version offers additional features for safe communication via open networks or dynamic IP address support.
Diverse potential applications
In general, package-oriented data transmission via mobile radio networks offers considerable advantages in both practicality and cost-effectiveness over alternatives which use means such as LAD, ISDN or analogue modems for data transmission. Typical applications lie in monitoring industrial production facilities, condition monitoring, traffic monitoring or in the field of security systems. The new radio routers make it possible to devise new solutions in these fields which reduce operating and process costs, increase the reliability of the systems being monitored or controlled and optimise the performance of the overall system. Furthermore, the high bandwidth of the UMTS/HSDPA opens new usage possibilities, such as for applications which transmit image or video data.
Integrated security and reliable operation
Both routers use TCP/IP as the base protocol, thus offering maximum investment security. They are equipped with an integrated firewall which protects from unauthorised access. The TAINY HMOD-V2-IO transmits data through a VPN tunnel with additional encryption according to the IPsec standard, thus establishing a secure end-to-end connection. Moreover, both products set themselves apart with their simple configuration, which can electively be conducted locally, remotely or over a use-friendly web interface.
"Dr. Neuhaus has incorporated decades of experience with industrial modems in the development of the TAINY HMOD products," says Ludger Böggering, marketing director at Dr. Neuhaus Telekommunikation GmbH. "Our customers profit from simple operation, maximal reliability and reduced overall costs over the device's lifetime."
Prices and availability
The TAINY HMOD-L1-IO is available for € 595.00 plus VAT, while the TAINY HMOD-V2-IO costs € 785.00 plus VAT. Both devices are available immediately and can be obtained directly from Dr. Neuhaus or through the distribution partners.
